During the last week of July, a storm hit the Durban coastline. Obviously, the WaveDroid crew put out one of our smartphone-based, real-time, directional wave buoys as soon as the storm showed up in the weather forecast.
Check out the results from our instrument compared to a nearby "industry standard" buoy here.... Animation LINK
Buoy Setup & Deployment
Step 1 - Wave buoy is shipped to you in a heavy duty bag that can be taken with you as CHECK-IN LUGGAGE!.... ON A PLANE!
Step 2 - Construct your mooring from our design (this can be done with rudimentary on-site materials)
Step 3 - Fill your battery pack (readily availible alkaline D Cells, will do the job)
Step 4 - Find a boat.
Live Data Page
This is the main interface to your Droid, from here you can view the lastest data, configure the buoy remotely, set up a geofence or track the position of the instrument. The portal also allows for data report generation and access. AND as a bonus your unique page is password protected.
